How You Can Help

We are a private non-profit shelter and, therefore, do not receive any county, state, or federal funding. Our facility relies heavily on the generosity of our donors and our volunteers.

There are many ways to help the League and the animals.

  • Become a Foster Parent - Becoming a foster parent for the Animal Rescue League of Worcester is one of the most important ways that you can help the animals in our care. In 2006, hundreds of animals found new homes because of our foster program. We are always in need of great foster parents.

Our foster parents provide love, care and attention to the animals that need to spend some time in the comfort of a home environment. The length of commitment varies. Some animals require a few weeks, some require a few months. If you are interested in becoming a foster parent, here’s some information you’ll need to know.

  • Shop our online store - We have opened up shop with CafePress.com. In addition to purchasing cool stuff that shows your support for animal rescue, a portion of each purchase goes directly to us to help us help the animals!

  • Make a donation - Every little bit helps!! Please visit our donation page to learn about the different types of donations! And for your security, we have partnered with so that you can donate with confidence, even if you don't have a PayPal account!!

  • View our wishlist - With so many animals coming in and out of the shelter, we are always in need of supplies. Please check our wishlist regularly to see if there is anything that you can help with! We are now registered at Wal*Mart!

  • Volunteer - Join our team of interns and volunteers! Learn about what it takes to run a successful shelter and how to care for shelter animals until they find thier forever homes.

  • Paws for Recycling - Paws for recycling is one of the easiest and fastest ways to help the shelter! With this program, our organization collects empty ink jet, laser printer cartridges and digital cell phones. We turn them and receive cash for the cartridges and phones that we collect! This is a easy project for schools and groups to be involved in.

  • Donate Your Car - If you're in the Worcester area, call Linders Dealership to schedule the removal of your unwanted or junk vehicles through our Vehicle Charity Donation Program. Select the Worcester Animal Rescue League as the charity of your choice. You'll help the animals and get a tax write-off!! • Help Ban Devocalization -

Some breeders devocalize routinely so they can keep many dogs without complaints from neighbors. Occasionally, an uninformed or irresponsible pet owner will order this convenience surgery, rendering his “best friend” mute or chronically hoarse. These animals face serious risks regardless of the vet’s skill or how the vocal cords are cut.
